The police have swiftly acted, arresting two individuals in connection with the crime.
The Fatal Argument Over a Banner
The victim has been identified as Manjunath, a 35-year-old member of the Koppa Town Gram Panchayat in Chikkamagaluru district. According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of May 16, 2024. The conflict reportedly began when Manjunath objected to a banner that had been put up by the accused individuals. The banner was installed to welcome a local leader, but its placement led to a heated verbal altercation.
What started as a war of words soon escalated into a physical confrontation. Enraged by the argument, the assailants allegedly attacked Manjunath. He sustained severe injuries during the assault and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite the efforts of doctors, Manjunath succumbed to his injuries on Friday, May 17, a day after the attack.
Police Investigation and Arrests

The arrested individuals have been named as Naveen and Prakash. A police official stated that the initial probe confirmed that the murder was a direct result of the quarrel over the banner. The police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation to determine if more people were involved in the planning or execution of the attack.
