The Government of Goa has implemented a significant administrative reshuffle within the state police force, ordering the immediate transfer and posting of eight senior-scale officers of the Goa Police Service, all holding the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). This comprehensive reorganization aims to optimize departmental efficiency and leadership across various specialized units.
Key Appointments and Postings
Among the most notable changes, Santosh Dessai has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for South Goa (SP South). In addition to this primary responsibility, Dessai will also assume the additional charge of SP for the Kushavati region. This appointment results in the relieving of Tikam Singh Verma from the position of South Goa SP.
The government order detailed several other crucial postings:
- Rajendra Raut Dessai has been posted as the SP for the wireless department.
- Jivba G Dalvi has taken charge as the SP for motor transport.
- Rajesh Kumar has been appointed as the SP for coastal security, a critical role given Goa's extensive coastline.
- Tushar Vernekar has been moved to the position of SP at the Police Headquarters (HQ).
Specialized Unit Leadership
The reshuffle also placed officers at the helm of several specialized and sensitive units within the force:
- Nutan Verenkar has been posted as the SP for the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU). She will also carry the additional charge of SP for the Pink Force, a specialized unit for women's safety.
- Rajan Nigalye has been appointed as the SP for the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).
- Pravinkumar Vast has been posted as the SP for the Tourist Police Unit, crucial for the state's tourism-dependent economy.
Dual Responsibilities and Continued Charges
In a move highlighting the continuity of certain critical functions, several officers will retain their previous deputy SP responsibilities alongside their new postings. This dual-charge system is designed to ensure a smooth transition and maintain operational stability.
- SP Tushar Vernekar will continue to hold the charge of Deputy SP for Chief Minister's Security until further orders are issued.
- SP Nutan Verenkar will retain her role as Deputy SP for the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.
- SP Rajan Nigalye will continue to serve as Deputy SP for the Anti-Corruption Branch.
- SP Pravinkumar Vast will additionally hold the charge of Deputy SP for the Headquarters' Liaisoning and Procurement Cell.
- SP Jivba G Dalvi will also shoulder responsibilities as Deputy SP for Crime I.
Separate Order for IPS Officers
In a concurrent but separate administrative order, the state government also announced immediate new postings for three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, further broadening the scope of the police reorganization.
Shekhar Prabhudessai has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for the Konkan Railway, a vital security posting for the region's rail infrastructure.
Shruti Arora was posted as the SP for the State Police Control Room (SPCR). Additionally, she will assume the additional charge of SP for the State Crime Records Bureau, integrating data management with operational control.
The order also addressed the placement of Tikam Singh Verma, who was relieved from his duties as South Goa SP following Santosh Dessai's appointment. Verma has been posted as the Principal of the Police Training School in Valpoi, a role focused on shaping future police personnel through training and education.
These transfers and postings, effective immediately, represent a strategic realignment of senior leadership within the Goa Police, affecting key operational, specialized, and training wings of the force.
