Goa CM: SSC to continue group C recruitment despite concerns

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday made it clear to his colleagues that the Goa Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will continue to recruit group C staff for all government departments.

“The task of selecting the candidates in a transparent manner and from talent pool to fill group C vacancies will continue through SSC,” Sawant said.

Some of the BJP MLAs and ministers have raised apprehension to continue recruitment through SSC and demanded to scrap SSC. They are of the opinion that there are some issues related to recruitment through SSC, and many aspirant candidates have approached them.

The state government started the first recruitment of group C posts through SSC from December 2023. Earlier, each department used to advertise their posts and recruit candidates individually. During the old recruitment drive, a long queue was seen outside the departments to submit applications for the posts, and candidates had to apply separately for each department.

After the SSC started recruitment, posts of all departments are advertised in one lot, and candidates are finalised for the posts.
