Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Denies Undergoing Angioplasty Procedure
In a statement from Pune on Friday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant firmly denied reports that he had undergone an angioplasty procedure at Ruby Hall Clinic. He clarified that his visit to the hospital was solely for a routine medical checkup, with all health parameters returning normal results.
Conflicting Statements from Hospital and CM
The controversy arose after Ruby Hall Clinic issued a statement late on Thursday, confirming that Sawant had been admitted and successfully underwent an angioplasty procedure. Dr. Purvez Grant, the chief cardiologist, chairman, and managing trustee of the hospital, stated that the intervention was completed without complications, with Sawant in stable condition and recovering under close observation.
However, on Friday morning, the hospital revised its stance, clarifying that Sawant had only undergone a routine checkup and has been discharged. This shift in narrative added to the confusion surrounding the chief minister's health status.
Sawant's Reassurance to Well-Wishers and Media
Speaking to TOI from Pune, Sawant emphasized, "I did not undergo any angioplasty procedure. It was a routine medical checkup. All my parameters are normal and I have been discharged." He further reassured his supporters, friends, and the media, stating that he is currently with his family and plans to return to Goa within a day to resume his routine work duties.
The chief minister's denial comes amidst ongoing speculation about his health, but he has maintained a transparent approach, urging the public not to worry. This incident highlights the importance of accurate medical reporting and the potential for misinformation in high-profile cases.
