Ganjam Dominates: 6 Police Stations in Top 10, SDPO Tops State in 2025
Ganjam's 6 Police Stations Among Odisha's Top 10 in 2025

In a remarkable demonstration of efficiency, six police stations from Ganjam district have secured positions within the top ten best-performing police stations across Odisha for the year 2025. This ranking is based on a real-time assessment conducted through the state's Pragati dashboard, which evaluated a total of 643 police stations.

Ganjam Police Stations Lead the State Rankings

The performance assessment has placed Ganjam police station at the coveted first rank in the entire state. It is closely followed by other stations from the district: Polasara, Purushottampur, Kodala, and Rambha, which rounded out the top five positions. Furthermore, Dharakote police station secured the tenth spot, ensuring half of the top-ten list is occupied by Ganjam's units.

Superintendent of Police (Ganjam) Subhendu Patra attributed this outstanding achievement to the diligent work of the officers involved. He highlighted that five of the top police stations in Odisha are within the Ganjam police district, with Dharakote also making the elite list at number ten.

How Performance is Measured: The Pragati Dashboard

The rankings are not arbitrary but are derived from a sophisticated, data-driven system. The Pragati dashboard is integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). This integration allows for real-time monitoring and evaluation of police stations based on ten critical parameters.

These parameters include:

  • Pendency of cases
  • Efficiency in citizen service
  • Resolution of complaints
  • Management of road accident data
  • Timely uploading of crucial documents like FIRs, photographs, and final forms to the CCTNS

A senior police officer explained that the primary objective of this system is to foster a competitive spirit among police stations, encouraging them to continuously improve their service delivery and operational efficiency. Senior officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP) and agencies like the crime branch, closely monitor this dashboard to track performance.

Individual Excellence: SDPO Tops State List

The excellence was not limited to police stations alone. In a parallel assessment of officers, Sujit Kumar Nayak, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Purushottampur, was ranked first among 118 SDPOs in Odisha. The evaluation of SDPOs considered factors such as joint inquiries, complaints closed, quality of investigation, and instructions given.

Attributing his success to collective effort, SDPO Nayak stated that his achievement was a direct result of effective teamwork and the cooperation of all police personnel within his jurisdiction. This dual success at both the station and officer levels underscores a district-wide commitment to policing excellence.

The 2025 rankings highlight Ganjam district as a benchmark for police performance in Odisha. The use of the Pragati dashboard with CCTNS integration represents a significant step towards transparent, data-centric governance in law enforcement, setting a new standard for others to follow.
