Dense Fog Causes Chaos on Punjab Roads, Multiple Vehicles Involved in Accidents

Thick fog blanketed the Malwa region early Sunday morning, creating hazardous driving conditions that resulted in two serious road accidents in Bathinda and Moga districts. More than a dozen people suffered injuries in these separate incidents, highlighting the dangers of reduced visibility during winter months.

Multi-Vehicle Pile-Up on Bathinda-Mansa Road

The first accident occurred near Maisarkhana village in Bathinda district. A truck carrying LPG cylinders was reversing at a fuel pump when a Punjab Road Transport Corporation bus traveling to Mansa collided with it. The dense fog that engulfed the area contributed to the initial crash.

Following this collision, another PRTC bus and a tractor-trailer crashed into the first bus from behind. This created a chain reaction involving four vehicles total. Ten people sustained injuries in this accident, including both bus drivers and multiple passengers.

Emergency responders transported the injured to civil hospitals in Maur and Bathinda for medical treatment. Bathinda DSP (Rural) Harvinder Singh confirmed police are investigating the incident on the Bathinda-Mansa road.

Second Accident Near Kot Ise Khan Town

A separate collision happened near Kot Ise Khan town in Moga district. Two trucks and a car crashed into each other in the foggy conditions, resulting in three people suffering injuries.

The impact of the collision caused both trucks to overturn completely. The car involved sustained severe damage in the crash. Emergency services responded to the scene to assist the injured and clear the wreckage.

These accidents serve as a stark reminder for drivers to exercise extreme caution during foggy weather conditions. Reduced visibility significantly increases the risk of collisions, especially on busy highways connecting Punjab's towns and cities.
