Farmers in Krishna District Demand Action on Filled Farm Canals
Farmers from Sobhanadripuram village in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district have made a fervent appeal to the district authorities. They are urging the immediate reinstatement of two essential farm canals that were filled up to construct a kaccha road during the previous YSRCP government's tenure.
Critical Irrigation Infrastructure Disrupted
These two farm canals played a pivotal role in the local agricultural ecosystem. They facilitated the flow of water from the Mangalakunta pond and the Vatsavayakunta pond, thereby providing vital irrigation water to numerous agricultural fields across the village. The disruption of this water supply has had severe repercussions for the farming community.
Allegations of Inaction and Political Involvement
According to local farmers K Venkateswara Rao and M Haria Babu of Sobhanadripuram, the canals were deliberately filled by a few individuals affiliated with the YSRCP during their previous regime. The farmers have alleged that despite lodging formal complaints with the revenue department, the concerned officials have failed to take any corrective action. This perceived inaction has exacerbated the farmers' plight and deepened their frustration.
