Family Feud Over Tree Cutting Turns Fatal in Davanagere

A long-standing family dispute over cutting a tree turned deadly in Deeturu village, Harihar taluk, Davanagere district, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old man. Police identified the deceased as Lankesh KB, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent clash with relatives.

Details of the Incident

According to police, Lankesh had a prolonged feud with his uncle, Hanumanthappa. The tension escalated when Hanumanthappa cut a tree located in front of Lankesh's house. This act triggered a heated argument between the two families. The verbal altercation quickly turned physical, with both sides resorting to stone-throwing. During the melee, a stone struck Lankesh in the chest, causing severe injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Davanagere but died on the way.

Legal Action and Arrests

Following the incident, Lankesh's family filed a complaint at the Harihar Rural police station against Hanumanthappa, his son Prakash, and two other individuals. Police promptly arrested Hanumanthappa and three others. The authorities also visited Deeturu village to assess the situation and ensure law and order was maintained.

Police Statement

Suresh Sagari, Circle Police Inspector (CPI) of Harihar Rural police station, confirmed that the clash over tree cutting led to Lankesh's death. He stated that four individuals have been detained and a case has been registered at the station. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain further details and motives behind the prolonged family feud.
