AIADMK Leader Edappadi Palaniswami Launches Scathing Attack on DMK Government Over Security Breach
In a sharp escalation of political rhetoric, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) launched a blistering critique against the ruling DMK government and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday. The former chief minister labeled Stalin as a "puppet" leader while alleging a complete breakdown of law and order in the state following a shocking incident where a country-made bomb was hurled at a police vehicle.
Violent Attack Unfolds During Legislative Assembly Session
According to EPS, the alarming security breach occurred near the Perambalur toll plaza on the busy Trichy-Chennai highway. "While puppet chief minister Stalin was busy patting himself on the back and boasting away in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly today, a shocking incident unfolded", Palaniswami stated in a social media post on platform X.
The AIADMK leader revealed that the attack targeted police officers who were escorting Velai Kali, a notorious rowdy from Madurai facing multiple criminal cases, for interrogation purposes. "This brutal attack took place as police officers were escorting Velai Kali, a rowdy from Madurai linked to several cases, for interrogation", he emphasized.
Multiple Police Personnel Injured in Bomb Attack
Palaniswami further disclosed that the violent assault resulted in serious injuries to four police constables who had arrived to provide security for the detained rowdy. "Reports indicate that four constables, who had arrived to provide security for the rowdy, sustained serious injuries in the bomb-throwing and have been admitted to hospital", the opposition leader stated, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
The AIADMK general secretary didn't mince words while condemning what he described as the complete erosion of police authority under the current administration. "It seems that those engaging in criminal acts feel not the slightest fear, whether of the police or this government. With law and order reduced to a laughing stock", Palaniswami asserted in his strongly-worded statement.
Political Blame Game Intensifies Over Security Lapse
Taking direct aim at Chief Minister Stalin's governance approach, EPS questioned the administration's response mechanism. "One can only wonder who chief minister Stalin—who's been spinning the wheel of governance for reasons unknown—will try to blame for this incident", he remarked sarcastically.
In a significant accusation, Palaniswami claimed that the political interference has compromised police independence. "I strongly condemn chief minister Stalin for not allowing the police to operate independently", the AIADMK leader declared, suggesting that bureaucratic constraints were hampering law enforcement effectiveness.
BJP Joins Criticism Against DMK Administration
The criticism wasn't limited to the AIADMK alone. Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran also joined the chorus of condemnation against the DMK government. Expressing shock over the incident, Nagenthran stated, "The incident of a country-made bomb being hurled at two policemen who had brought in a notorious rowdy near Thirumandurai in Perambalur district is utterly shocking."
The BJP state chief painted a grim picture of deteriorating security conditions under DMK rule. "This single event stands as witness to the fact that law and order has plummeted to the depths under DMK rule! Not only has it systematically eroded public safety with its iron-fisted oppression, but now even uniformed policemen's protection is being plundered", Nagenthran asserted in his statement.
Growing Concerns Over Public Safety in Tamil Nadu
Nagenthran further questioned the fundamental premise of governance in the state. "This vile regime that has plunged Tamil Nadu into utter devastation—is this the good governance the nation cherishes, Chief Minister Stalin Sir?" he asked rhetorically.
The BJP leader issued a stern warning about potential public backlash. "People will no longer tolerate a regime that postures on social media while looting public safety! The day is not far off when the DMK regime, which has turned Tamil Nadu into a hotbed of violence and a den of rowdies through its incompetent administration, will be obliterated by the people of Tamil Nadu!" Nagenthran concluded with this strong political message.
The coordinated criticism from both major opposition parties highlights the growing political pressure on the DMK government regarding law and order issues. The bomb attack on police personnel has become a focal point for opposition parties to question the administration's effectiveness in maintaining public safety and security across Tamil Nadu.
