AIADMK Leader EPS Accuses DMK-Congress Alliance of Political Double Standards

He asserted that while the alliance projects a facade of unity in Tamil Nadu, it follows a fragmented and inconsistent approach in Puducherry, exposing what he termed as double standards in its overall strategy.

In his address, Palaniswami directly targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, alleging that he had looted Tamil Nadu and was now attempting to extend the same brand of politics to the union territory of Puducherry. The AIADMK leader's remarks were part of a broader critique of the DMK's governance and alliance tactics.
Response to Memorial Land Allocation Controversy
Responding to Stalin's accusations regarding the denial of a memorial for late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, EPS clarified that the AIADMK government had been legally constrained due to a pending case in the high court against such land allocations. Is it fair to accuse us when we were legally unable to allot land? he questioned, highlighting that despite this, his administration had allocated two acres of land at Guindy for the purpose.
He further countered by charging that Karunanidhi himself had refused to provide land for memorials of late Chief Ministers K Kamaraj and Janaki Ramachandran during his tenure, suggesting a historical precedent of such denials.
Criticism of DMDK and Alliance Dynamics
Palaniswami also criticized the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), accusing its leadership of shifting positions based on alliance partnerships. He pointed out that the party had aligned with the DMK despite actor Vadivelu making derogatory remarks about DMDK founder Vijayakant in the presence of Karunanidhi. Additionally, EPS dismissed claims about the denial of a Rajya Sabha seat to the DMDK as incorrect, stating that he had assured such a position if the party remained in alliance with AIADMK for the 2026 elections.
Evening Speech in Neyveli and Broader Accusations
Later in the evening, during a speech at Neyveli, EPS took a swipe at Udhayanidhi Stalin, further intensifying his political offensive. He accused the DMK of betrayal on multiple fronts, including issues such as:
- The handling of Katchatheevu island
- Cauvery water disputes
- Matters concerning Sri Lankan Tamils
- The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
Palaniswami asserted that DMK leaders had no moral basis to level allegations against others, given their own track record. He also questioned the DMK's reliance on former AIADMK members who had defected and were now holding positions in the government, implying a lack of integrity in their political appointments.
