Dhinakaran: OPS May Join NDA, Slams DMK Corruption

AMMK Leader Dhinakaran Predicts OPS Entry into NDA, Slams DMK Governance

In a significant political development from Tamil Nadu, AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Monday voiced strong anticipation that former chief minister O Panneerselvam (OPS) would eventually align with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Addressing the media at his residence in Theni, Dhinakaran outlined his party's strategic moves and launched sharp critiques against rival factions.

Voluntary NDA Alliance and Corruption Allegations

Dhinakaran emphasized that his party's decision to join the NDA under the leadership of Edappadi K Palanisami was made voluntarily, without any external pressure. He asserted that this step was crucial for the political landscape of Tamil Nadu. In a pointed attack, he alleged rampant corruption under the current DMK government, stating that the party's name has become synonymous with corrupt practices whenever such issues are discussed.

He further criticized the government for lodging complaints against the Enforcement Directorate, claiming that corruption permeates various departments, including transfer-related activities. Dhinakaran took a swipe at deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, accusing him of being shielded by his father and engaging in unfair criticism.

Restoring Amma's Rule and 2026 Elections Vision

The AMMK leader clarified that the alliance was formed with the singular objective of restoring the governance principles of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, popularly known as Amma. He confirmed that alliance partners would campaign collectively to achieve this goal, adding that they do not wish to be held responsible for obstructing the return of Jayalalithaa's legacy.

Regarding OPS, Dhinakaran described him as a "true volunteer of Amma" and expressed confidence in his eventual joining of the NDA. He remarked that OPS, who served three terms as chief minister through the AIADMK, owes his political stature to the party and should now stand united with it to ensure good governance in Tamil Nadu.

Looking ahead to the 2026 Assembly elections, Dhinakaran proclaimed that this event would mark a "true dawn" for the state. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi now occupies the influential position once held by Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu politics and expressed optimism that Modi's leadership would help elevate Tamil Nadu to a leading state status.

Personal Political Stance and Criticism of TVK Leader

In a surprising revelation, Dhinakaran announced that he would not contest the upcoming Assembly elections. He explained that his primary focus is on ensuring the victory of candidates aligned with his vision, though he clarified that he would not seek ministerial positions post-election.

Turning his attention to TVK leader Vijay, Dhinakaran strongly objected to his remarks against the AIADMK. He questioned how Vijay could label the party corrupt while simultaneously using the image of MGR (M. G. Ramachandran), a revered figure in Tamil politics. Dhinakaran accused Vijay of indulging in political rhetoric and challenged his claims about eradicating corruption, citing alleged instances of black marketing in film tickets. He urged Vijay to engage directly in public life rather than making accusations from the sidelines.

This comprehensive address from Dhinakaran highlights the evolving political dynamics in Tamil Nadu, with alliances forming and criticisms flying as parties position themselves for future electoral battles.
