Dhanbad Municipal Elections Gain Momentum as Campaigning Intensifies
The municipal elections in Dhanbad are rapidly gaining pace as candidates escalate their outreach efforts throughout the city. With polling set for February 23 and only a few days remaining, aspirants are leaving no stone unturned to attract voters and bolster their grassroots presence.
Campaign Strategies and Candidate Activities
Candidates are actively visiting neighborhoods, emphasizing their priorities and making promises designed to garner public support. Several contenders have also established election offices in various localities to ensure efficient coordination of campaign activities and outreach programs.
Mayoral candidate Mukesh Pandey formally inaugurated his election office on Wednesday. The inauguration was conducted by senior advocate and social worker Sujit Malik. Political observers interpret this move as an effort to connect with the Bengali community residing in Dhanbad. Pandey began his political career in student politics, later associated with the BJP, and is now contesting in the mayoral race.
Meanwhile, former mayor Chandrashekhar Agarwal has been actively touring different parts of the city, highlighting his previous achievements and development works undertaken during his tenure. On Wednesday evening, he visited the Durga Temple premises to meet members of the Bengali community and seek their support.
On the other hand, BJP-backed candidate Sanjeev Kumar has intensified his campaign. On Wednesday, he toured the Park Market and Hirapur areas, interacting with traders and soliciting their backing. He claims to have the support of the BJP, the business community, and several other sections of society.

With as many as 29 candidates contesting for the mayoral post, the competition has become increasingly intense. Each candidate, accompanied by supporters, is reaching out to voters, outlining past contributions and presenting their vision for Dhanbad's development if elected.
