The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is intensifying its campaign in Uttarpara, Hooghly, with a sharp focus on unemployment and industrial decline. The party's candidate argues that industries have been steadily shutting down under the Trinamool Congress regime, leaving behind vacant land and shrinking job opportunities.
Industrial Decline in Focus
The CPI(M) candidate highlighted the closure of factories, including the iconic Amby factory, which once symbolized industrial growth in the region. 'Where Amby once rolled, we now see only empty plots and unemployed youth,' he stated during a recent rally. The party aims to reclaim lost ground by addressing the economic distress of local communities.
Campaign Strategy
The party has organized a series of public meetings and marches, including a major rally on April 23, promoted on social media. The campaign emphasizes the failure of the TMC government to attract new industries or preserve existing ones, leading to a rise in unemployment among the youth.
- Focus on job creation and industrial revival
- Criticism of TMC's economic policies
- Appeal to former industrial workers and their families
The CPI(M) hopes that this targeted messaging will help it regain support in a constituency it once dominated. With the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, the party is banking on economic grievances to sway voters.
