In a significant move to address growing internal dissatisfaction, the Jharkhand Congress leadership has unveiled a new strategy to improve coordination between its ministers and legislators. The decision, taken during a high-level meeting on Friday, aims to bridge the communication gap within the party's state unit.
MLA-Minister Teams for Better Governance
The core of the new plan involves tagging three Congress MLAs to each of the party's four ministers in the state. Jharkhand affairs in-charge K Raju, who chaired the exhaustive meeting with all district presidents and MLAs, explained the mechanism. These newly formed teams will work collectively, with the MLAs raising public and party worker concerns directly with their assigned minister.
Monthly review meetings will be held to track progress on the issues raised. Raju stated that this system is designed to ensure that neither party workers feel disconnected from the ministers nor the ministers remain unaware of ground realities, thereby strengthening internal coordination.
Grassroots Outreach and Electoral Preparedness
Beyond the MLA-minister teams, the party has announced a major grassroots outreach program named 'Samwad'. Starting January 17, this initiative will be rolled out at the block level for a period of 20 days. Gram panchayat and ward panchayat level committees, each comprising 12 members, will participate.
The objective of Samwad is to instruct these grassroots committees on key issues, methods to connect with the public, and how to propagate the party's virtues and values. In a parallel move for electoral readiness, the Congress has trained approximately 30,000 booth-level workers. These workers will act as gatekeepers during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Jharkhand, aiming to prevent genuine voters from being struck off the list.
Foundation Day Celebrations and Future Plans
Adding to the flurry of organisational activities, the Jharkhand Congress will hold mega programmes on December 28 to mark the party's foundation day. Raju detailed that party workers will hoist Congress flags atop their homes, and events will be organised at every block and gram panchayat.
These programmes will also serve to inform people about the Congress party's contributions to India's freedom struggle. The party is procuring a substantial 60,000 flags for the occasion. These combined measures represent a concerted effort by the state Congress leadership to revitalise its organisation, address internal grievances, and prepare for future political challenges in Jharkhand.
