Congress Leader Predicts February Municipal Polls in Telangana

Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud announced on Monday that municipal elections are likely to be held in February. He expressed strong confidence that his party will dominate these upcoming elections.

Confidence Rooted in Recent Successes

Addressing a media conference in Nizamabad, Goud pointed to recent victories as a sign of growing support. He highlighted that the Congress party won a majority of sarpanch seats in Nizamabad district. This achievement places Nizamabad among the first five districts in Telangana to accomplish this feat.

"People are happy with the visible development and welfare work," Goud stated. He believes this satisfaction will translate into votes during the urban local body polls, just as it did in the recent panchayat elections.

A Vision for Victory Across Telangana

Goud made a bold prediction about the party's performance. He said the Congress flag would be hoisted not only in Nizamabad but across the entire state of Telangana. He specifically expressed confidence in winning the Nizamabad municipal corporation.

The Congress leader credited Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's leadership for this positive outlook. "Under his guidance, the state has moved from destruction to development in just two years," Goud remarked.

Highlighting Development and Welfare

Goud emphasized that Telangana now stands out nationally in terms of development and public welfare. He mentioned that major investments were secured during previous Davos visits and the recent global summit held at Bharat Future City.

The Congress president listed several welfare schemes that are reaching people in both urban and rural areas. These include:

  • Free bus travel for women
  • Ration cards
  • 200 units of free electricity
  • Gas cylinders at Rs 500
  • Distribution of fine rice
  • Housing for the poor

Criticism of Political Opponents

Goud did not shy away from criticizing the BJP during his address. He suggested that the saffron party should seek votes by explaining the development and performance of the BJP government at the Centre. He advised against using the name of god and religion for political gain.

"Caste and religion should be set aside," Goud asserted. He argued that improving the living conditions of the poor should be the primary focus for all political parties.

A Call to Voters

The Congress leader concluded with a direct appeal to the electorate. He called upon voters to teach a lesson to both the BRS and BJP in the upcoming municipal polls. Goud's message was clear: support the party that delivers tangible development and welfare benefits.

His confident tone and specific predictions set the stage for what promises to be a closely watched electoral battle in Telangana's urban centers next year.
