Congress Slams Punjab Govt Over 'Duplicity' on Key Issues
Congress Exposes Punjab Govt's Duplicity

The Congress party in Punjab has launched a sharp attack on the state government, accusing it of duplicity on critical matters affecting the people. In a press conference held in Chandigarh, senior Congress leaders highlighted what they termed as the government's double standards on farmer-related issues, law and order, and development projects.

Farmer Issues: Broken Promises

Congress spokesperson pointed out that the ruling party had made grand promises to farmers during the election campaign but has failed to deliver. The government's stance on the farm laws and compensation for crop losses is contradictory, they alleged. The party demanded immediate implementation of the loan waiver and better procurement processes.

Law and Order: Rising Concerns

On law and order, the Congress criticized the government for rising incidents of crime, especially against women and traders. "The government talks tough on law and order but fails to act," said a senior leader. They cited recent cases where police response was slow, leading to public outcry.

Development Projects: No Progress

The Congress also accused the government of stalling key development projects. Road infrastructure, health facilities, and education reforms have seen little to no progress, they claimed. The party urged the government to release pending funds for local bodies and speed up work on smart city initiatives.

Government's Response

In response, the state government dismissed the allegations as baseless. A spokesperson said, "The Congress is indulging in cheap politics. Our government is committed to transparency and development." They provided figures showing increased spending on infrastructure and claimed that law and order situation is under control.

The Congress, however, remains unconvinced and has announced a series of protests across the state to highlight the government's failures. The party plans to take these issues to the people ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
