Congress Counters BRS on HILT Policy, Says BRS Failed Unemployed
Congress Defends HILT Policy, Accuses BRS of Failure

In a strong rebuttal to the opposition, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday defended the state government's Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation (HILT) policy. He countered allegations made by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserting that the previous BRS government had failed the unemployed youth of the state.

Defending a Proactive Environmental Move

Addressing a press conference, Mahesh Goud stated that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy introduced the HILT policy as a proactive step to protect Hyderabad from facing environmental crises similar to those witnessed in Delhi. He described the policy as exemplary and visionary.

The Congress leader emphasized that the policy would serve a dual purpose. Not only is it aimed at environmental protection, but it will also make land acquisition more affordable and accessible to the general public, he claimed.

Shifting Industries to Curb Pollution

Elaborating on the government's plan, Mahesh Goud pointed out that several industries operating within the core areas of Hyderabad are significant contributors to the city's rising pollution levels. As part of the new strategy under the HILT policy, the government plans to relocate such industrial units beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The spaces vacated by these industries in the city's heart will then be converted into residential zones. Mahesh Goud stressed that this entire exercise is being undertaken in a fair and equitable manner, ensuring justice for all stakeholders involved.

Criticism of BJP and BRS

The TPCC chief did not spare the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) either. He criticized BJP leaders for remaining silent for a decade while, according to him, BRS leaders exploited Hyderabad's resources. He accused the BJP of now creating unnecessary controversy over the chief minister's recent metaphorical remarks concerning deities.

Further, Mahesh Goud addressed internal party matters, clarifying that there was no discontent over the appointment of district Congress committee presidents. He asserted that the party structure remained stable and united under the current leadership.

The press conference served as a comprehensive defense of the state government's flagship land policy while launching a political offensive against both the principal opposition party and the previous ruling party in Telangana.
