Congress Leader Asserts BRS Lacks Future, Slams BJP's Tactics
Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud made strong statements on Tuesday, declaring that the BRS party has 'no future, only a past'. He spoke to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, addressing key political issues in the state.
Silence on Corruption Allegations Speaks Volumes
Goud pointed to the recent allegations made by Telangana Jagruti leader K Kavitha against top BRS leaders. He noted that the pink party's leaders have remained silent in response. This silence, according to Goud, leads people to naturally assume that significant corruption occurred during the previous BRS government. He emphasized that when no counter-argument is offered, public perception turns negative.
He also dismissed rumors about K Kavitha possibly joining the Congress party. Goud stated clearly that such speculation holds no truth. 'Kavitha has been making corruption allegations against BRS leaders. Without any rebuttal from BRS, people will believe corruption took place,' he explained.
Criticism of BJP's Religious Politics
Turning his attention to the BJP, the TPCC chief argued that the saffron party lacks a strong foothold in Telangana. He questioned how long voters would support BJP based solely on Hindu sentiment. Goud alleged that the party repeatedly uses the names of gods for political advantage, a practice he called unadvisable.
'Nearly 90% of Congress members are Hindus who pray to various gods. We are religious too, but gods should be respected as deities, not exploited as political tools,' Goud asserted. He stressed the importance of keeping faith separate from political maneuvering.
Governance and Administrative Matters
On the topic of administration, Goud mentioned that minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has already clarified Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy does not interfere in ministers' departmental functions. He expressed support for holding a cabinet meeting in Medaram, calling it an auspicious idea. This location will host one of the world's largest tribal jathras later this month.
Regarding party organization, Goud stated there is no proposal to change the AICC in charge of Telangana. He announced that a political affairs committee meeting will convene soon. This meeting will decide on alliances with CPI, CPM, and other parties for the upcoming urban local body elections.
Addressing Misinformation and District Reorganization
Goud addressed the issue of district reorganization, stating there is no plan to abolish any districts. He criticized the previous BRS government for conducting the exercise unscientifically and for political gain. This has resulted in numerous complaints seeking rationalization, he added.
He strongly condemned false allegations made against woman IAS officers. Goud warned that making baseless accusations without evidence is unacceptable. Action will be taken against those spreading misinformation and propaganda, he declared, emphasizing the need for accountability in public discourse.
