Mettupalayam and Kinathukadavu Proceedings

In Mettupalayam, DMK candidate Kavitha Kalyanasundaram filed her nomination to returning officer Viswanathan. She was accompanied by DMK deputy general secretary A Raja, and the event included a floral tribute at a statue of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai (Anna). TVK candidate for Mettupalayam, Sunil Anand, also submitted his nomination papers on the same day.

Over in the Kinathukadavu constituency, TVK candidate K Vignesh filed his nomination at the Madukkarai Taluk office. Vignesh remarked, “As our leader says, the contest is only between DMK and TVK. However, the ground reality in Kinathukadavu is that there is no competition for TVK here. We will win this constituency by a huge margin.” His statement underscores the party's assertive stance in the region.

Thondamuthur Candidate Alleges Corruption and Fear Tactics

TVK candidate for the Thondamuthur constituency, R Sathish Raju, filed his nomination before the returning officer at the Perur taluk office. In subsequent comments, Raju made strong allegations against rival parties. He declared, “We will send the corrupt politician’s home. The frightened senior politicians in the Thondamuthur constituency are reaching out to TVK supporters and asking them to vote for their party, promising govt jobs and Rs 25,000 in cash. But they cannot win here this time.”

Raju further criticized opponents, stating, “People who did not visit the constituency during the last regime, claiming that they were in the opposition, are now going door to door campaign. Both parties are spreading rumours about TVK out of fear.” These accusations highlight the intense and contentious nature of the electoral campaign unfolding in Coimbatore district.

The nomination filings across Coimbatore North, Kavundampalayam, Mettupalayam, Kinathukadavu, and Thondamuthur constituencies signal the official commencement of election activities, with both TVK and DMK showcasing organizational strength and confident candidates ready for the political contest ahead.
