Chennai: After days of intense election campaigning, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin took a well-deserved break, arriving in the hill station of Kodaikanal on Saturday along with his family members. Stalin boarded a chartered flight from Chennai airport to Madurai and then traveled to Kodaikanal by road.
Warm Welcome in Madurai
In Madurai, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu welcomed the chief minister. At Madurai airport, when reporters asked him about the prospects of the DMK alliance, Stalin gave a thumbs-up sign, indicating that the DMK-led secular progressive alliance would register what he called “a thumping victory”.
Tourists Greet Stalin in Kodaikanal
Upon reaching Kodaikanal, tourists welcomed the chief minister warmly. While some posed for photos with him, one tourist insisted that Stalin repeat the ‘over’ gesture he made after the seat-sharing talks with Congress at the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam on March 4. Stalin responded positively, obliging the request.
DMK sources revealed that Stalin and his family are likely to spend three days in Kodaikanal. This has become a tradition for Stalin, who has been visiting Kodaikanal after all major elections in 2019, 2021, and 2024 to take a break between polling and the announcement of election results.
Hectic Campaign Schedule
Stalin commenced his election campaign from Tiruvarur on March 31 and concluded his 20-day schedule on April 21. His campaign was extremely busy, addressing two public meetings every day, followed by morning walks where he shared a cup of tea with people and interacted with them.
