The dramatic rescue occurred on Monday at a private hotel in Periyar Nagar, Virudhachalam. Head constable Saravanan was having a meal when an 18-month-old baby suddenly slipped from its mother's lap. The fall caused the infant to start choking, prompting immediate distress.
As the mother screamed for help, Saravanan did not hesitate. He picked up the child and rushed to a nearby private hospital. Medical staff provided first aid promptly, successfully rescuing the baby from the dangerous situation.

Following the successful rescue, Cuddalore Superintendent of Police S Jeyakumar personally called Saravanan to commend his actions. The news quickly reached Chief Minister Stalin, who added his appreciation through social media.
Stalin recalled his recent address to police personnel during an appointment order distribution event. "I asked the police that their work should be combined with humanity," the Chief Minister stated on X. "The foundation of valour is love. Appreciation for Saravanan for making it happen."
