Hyderabad Chief Minister Urges Congress Legislators to Prioritize Governance Over Controversy
In a significant address to the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Monday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of Hyderabad issued a clear directive to party MLCs and MLAs: refrain from creating unnecessary controversies through loose talk. Instead, he emphasized the need to focus on communicating the government's future plans for public welfare and development.
Strategic Focus on Governance and Public Communication
Revanth Reddy highlighted that this budget session marks the third presentation under his administration, describing it as an opportune moment to inform citizens about the government's roadmap. "This is the right time to inform the people from the assembly and council about the govt's plans to fulfil the aspirations of the people," he stated. He further noted that the strategies formulated now would serve as the agenda for the upcoming assembly elections, underscoring the long-term vision of his administration.
Strict Attendance and Active Participation Mandated
Outlining the strategy for the current budget session, the Chief Minister directed all Congress legislators, including women representatives, to ensure 100% attendance and active engagement in debates. He stressed that good coordination between government whips and MLAs is crucial during discussions. Revanth Reddy made it unequivocally clear that merely showing up, marking attendance, and leaving is unacceptable. Attendance will be strictly recorded three times daily, and MLAs must come prepared on the subjects under discussion to contribute effectively.
Encouragement for Best Practices and Grassroots Engagement
In addition to legislative duties, Revanth Reddy suggested that MLAs and MLCs tour other states to study best practices that could be implemented in Hyderabad. He also ordered legislators to prioritize addressing the drinking water crisis anticipated during the summer months. The CM emphasized the importance of taking the 99-Day "Praja Palana - Pragati Pranalika" initiative directly to the people at the grassroots level, ensuring that government schemes reach those in need.
Countering Opposition Propaganda
TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud echoed the Chief Minister's sentiments, urging ministers to strongly counter false propaganda spread by opposition parties regarding the Congress's six guarantees. This call to action reinforces the party's commitment to transparent governance and public trust.
By shifting focus from exposing the failures of the previous BRS government to highlighting future plans, Revanth Reddy aims to steer the Congress administration toward a proactive and people-centric approach, setting a precedent for responsible political discourse in Hyderabad.
