Ward 9 Residents Voice Anger Over Persistent Civic Problems
Ward 9 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has become a focal point for voter discontent. Residents across multiple localities continue to struggle with basic civic issues that have remained unresolved for many years. Their frustration grows as they face daily challenges with essential services.
Garbage Collection Woes Plague Multiple Areas
Irregular garbage collection stands as a major grievance in Misarwadi, Aarti Nagar, and Bridgewadi. Residents report that garbage collection vehicles fail to arrive regularly. This forces families to carry their own waste to distant dumping points. Garbage accumulates in open areas, creating foul odors and raising serious health concerns.
"The ghantagadi skips our area for days," said Shabbir Shaikh, a resident of Bridgewadi. "Garbage piles up, dogs scatter it, and the smell becomes unbearable. Children and elderly people are falling sick frequently."
Severe Water Scarcity Affects Daily Life
Water scarcity remains equally severe across the ward. Several pockets of Naregaon, Bridgewadi, Uttar Nagari, and parts of Misarwadi lack municipal water pipelines entirely. In areas where pipelines exist, residents receive water only once every eight to ten days. Civic works to lay new pipelines and construct a water tank are currently underway. Residents hope these measures will ease the ongoing crisis.
"Without pipelines, there is no water supply," explained Sunita Pawar from Uttar Nagari. "We depend on tankers and stored water. Even where taps exist, water comes after more than a week."
Road Conditions Deteriorate Rapidly
Road conditions present a mixed but worrying picture throughout the ward. In parts of Chikalthana, roads were recently surfaced but quickly developed multiple cracks. In other areas, roads remain in extremely poor condition. During the monsoon season, large stretches become slushy and waterlogged. These conditions make roads inaccessible even for two-wheelers.
"During the monsoon, vehicles cannot enter our lane," stated Ganesh Malke, a resident of Naregaon. "Children walk through knee-deep mud to reach school."
Healthcare Access Remains a Critical Concern
Healthcare access represents another critical concern for Ward 9 residents. The ward lacks a municipal or government hospital entirely. Residents must travel to Mini Ghati Hospital or seek treatment at private hospitals. This leads to high medical expenses, particularly affecting economically weaker families.
"There is no government hospital here," said Ajay Kamble of Misarwadi. "For any emergency, we have to go far or pay heavily at private hospitals."
Safety Issues Compound Existing Problems
Streetlights in several localities remain non-functional, worsening safety concerns at night. Combined with irregular garbage collection, residents warn that the situation poses a serious risk to public health. The failure of civic amenities to keep pace with population growth has created a perfect storm of problems.
Residents Look Toward Future Solutions
With civic amenities failing to meet basic needs, residents express clear expectations for the future. They hope the next elected body of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation will prioritize several key areas:
- Reliable water supply systems
- Effective sanitation and garbage collection
- Proper road infrastructure maintenance
- Accessible public healthcare facilities
Residents emphasize that these issues require immediate attention once an elected council takes charge. Their collective voice grows louder as they demand tangible improvements to their quality of life.
