Punjab minister Bittu has stressed the importance of enhanced coordination between the central and state governments, calling it the need of the hour to effectively tackle pressing issues such as farmer welfare and infrastructure development. Speaking at a press conference in Chandigarh, Bittu highlighted that collaborative efforts are essential for the progress of the state and the nation.
Call for Unity in Governance
Bittu, who holds key portfolios in the Punjab government, stated that the current political climate demands a unified approach. He pointed out that many problems, including those related to agriculture and rural development, require joint initiatives from both levels of government. “Without proper coordination, schemes meant for the people often fail to achieve their objectives,” he said.
Farmer Welfare at the Forefront
The minister particularly emphasized the plight of farmers, noting that the central and state governments must work together to ensure fair prices, adequate compensation, and access to modern farming techniques. He urged the Centre to consider the specific needs of Punjab, a state that has contributed significantly to the country’s food security.
Infrastructure and Development
Bittu also called for better cooperation on infrastructure projects, including roads, irrigation, and power supply. He argued that delays in approvals and funding from the Centre often hamper state-level development. “We need a seamless flow of resources and decision-making to accelerate growth,” he added.
The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the Punjab government and the central administration on several issues. Bittu expressed hope that the Centre would adopt a more conciliatory stance, prioritizing the welfare of the people over political differences.
He concluded by reiterating that the success of any government depends on its ability to collaborate across tiers. “The need of the hour is to put aside partisan interests and work for the common good,” Bittu said.
