A tragic road accident in the early hours of Saturday resulted in one fatality and left another person injured in the Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh. The incident involved a tractor carrying equipment for repairing borewells, which overturned and plunged into a roadside canal.
Details of the Fatal Mishap
The accident occurred on the Gannepalli-Rangapuram stretch within Ardhaveedu mandal. According to police reports, the tractor was transporting iron tools used for borewell maintenance. The driver of the vehicle, in an attempt to give way to an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus approaching from behind, reportedly lost control.
The tractor veered off the road, overturned, and fell into a canal alongside the roadway. The sudden loss of balance during the evasive maneuver led to the catastrophic sequence of events.
Victims Identified, Condition of Injured Stable
Police have identified the deceased as Mutyala Srinu, aged 44. Srinu was a resident of Raburampeta village in Mydukur mandal, which falls under Kadapa district. He succumbed to severe injuries on the spot.
The other individual in the tractor, Akumalla Kumar, sustained injuries in the crash. He was promptly shifted to the government hospital in Kambham for medical treatment. Authorities have stated that Kumar's condition is currently stable as he continues to receive care at the facility.
Aftermath and Local Context
This unfortunate event highlights the perils associated with rural road transport, especially for vehicles carrying heavy or unbalanced loads. The accident on the Ardhaveedu route has cast a pall over the local communities of Palnadu and Kadapa districts.
Investigations into the precise circumstances are ongoing, but the preliminary account points to a fatal misjudgment while navigating road-sharing with public transport. The incident serves as a somber reminder for drivers of heavy vehicles to exercise extreme caution on narrow or canal-adjacent roads.
