BJP Confident Mahayuti Unaffected by Thackeray Alliance in BMC Polls
BJP: Thackeray Alliance Won't Affect Mahayuti in BMC

Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam has expressed strong confidence that the recently formed alliance between cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray will have no impact on the performance of the ruling Mahayuti coalition in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Satam, speaking at a public event, firmly predicted that the next mayor of Mumbai will be from the BJP-led alliance.

Political Posturing vs Public Issues

Addressing the 'Lok Satta Lok Samvad' programme on November 20, 2025, Satam dismissed the Thackeray cousins' recent public appearances together as a political sham. He stated that the family meetings and shared festival celebrations, including Ganpati darshan and Deepotsav, were irrelevant to the concerns of Mumbaikars.

"What does it have to do with Mumbaikars? It is important who and how will provide Mumbaikars with their drinking water, good quality roads, hospitals, schools, gardens, playgrounds etc," Satam asserted, shifting the focus to civic amenities and governance.

Allegations and Infrastructure Claims

In a direct challenge to Uddhav Thackeray, Satam demanded accountability for development work during his party's long tenure in the civic body. He alleged corruption worth around Rs 3 lakh crore during Uddhav Thackeray's 25-year influence in the BMC.

Contrasting this, he highlighted the infrastructure projects completed in Mumbai under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's central government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's state government over the last 10-11 years. Satam also claimed that decision-making power in the BMC during their previous alliance was solely with Uddhav Thackeray, as the BJP never held key posts like mayor or standing committee chairman.

Mahayuti's United Front and Security Concerns

Regarding the impending BMC polls, Satam confirmed that the BJP, Shinde Sena, and NCP will contest the elections together under the Mahayuti banner. He indicated that seat-sharing talks would commence shortly and expressed no concerns about the process.

Expanding on broader issues, the BJP city chief also spoke about security, alleging a conspiracy to change the character of some cities. "We are not against the Muslim community. But we are firmly opposed to those who oppose the national interest," Satam claimed, referencing the appearance of Pakistani flags in some campaigns and the alleged involvement of bomb blast accused.

Confident about the upcoming electoral battle, Satam concluded by making a bold prediction about the Thackeray alliance's longevity, suggesting it would not survive beyond the current election cycle.
