BJP Mocks Congress Over Patna Feast Boycott by MLAs
The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a sharp attack on the Congress party this Monday. BJP leaders criticized a dahi-chura feast organized at the Congress state headquarters in Patna. They pointed out that none of the six Congress MLAs attended the event.
BJP Spokesperson Claims Internal Discord in Congress
BJP spokesman Neeraj Kumar made strong statements about the situation. He claimed the absence of senior leaders and legislators suggests serious internal problems within the Congress party. "In their feast, the curd had spoiled and the flattened rice had gone stale!" Kumar declared dramatically.
He continued with his criticism. "No party MLAs or senior leaders attended, which indicates that a major split is imminent in the Congress after Kharmas." Kumar suggested that Congress and RJD MLAs are simply waiting for the inauspicious period to end before switching sides.
Congress Responds to Criticism
Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram downplayed the BJP's criticism. He emphasized that Makar Sankranti should remain a festival of harmony and brotherhood. "There should be no politics as Makar Sankranti is a festival of harmony, brotherhood and new energy," Ram stated firmly.
The Congress leader added his own perspective on political rumors. "We could also say that BJP and JD(U) MLAs are in contact with us. This kind of thing keeps happening," he remarked, suggesting such claims flow both ways in politics.
Political Context and Defection Rumors
The feast was organized by Congress state Seva Dal president Sanjay Yadav. He had invited all party leaders and workers to participate. Notably, no Mahagathbandhan leaders attended, including those from RJD, since they did not receive invitations.
Recent political developments have fueled speculation about possible defections. LJP (Ram Vilas) leader and state minister Sanjay Singh recently claimed all six Congress MLAs would join the NDA after Kharmas. BJP leader and agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav echoed similar claims about RJD MLAs being in touch with his party.
The election results show RJD contested 143 seats and won 25, while Congress contested 61 seats but secured only six. This relatively weak position has led to ongoing rumors about potential shifts in political allegiance.
Congress President Addresses Defection Rumors
Rajesh Ram addressed the possibility of defections directly. "When someone is going to defect, you don't even get a hint. When votes are to be stolen, they are stolen, and nobody knows about it," he observed about political realities.
The Congress president expressed confidence in his party's unity. "My six MLAs are all together," he asserted. He concluded with a philosophical note about political communication. "Anyway, in politics, what is said is not done, and what is done is not told to anyone."
The political drama in Patna continues as parties position themselves ahead of possible realignments. The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between political factions in Bihar as they navigate festival celebrations and political maneuvering simultaneously.
