BJP MLA's Son Faces Police Action for VIP Misconduct in Nainital

In a striking incident on the busy Mall Road of Nainital, the son of a BJP MLA was booked for misconduct and had his vehicle seized by police on Thursday, highlighting issues of alleged VIP entitlement amid heavy tourist traffic.

Aggressive Driving Sparks Confrontation

The event unfolded during peak tourist hours, causing significant congestion on Mall Road. A white Toyota Fortuner, equipped with a loud hooter or siren, was observed aggressively maneuvering through the traffic jam. The vehicle trailed directly behind Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nawazish Khaliq, who initially yielded, assuming it might be an emergency or high-ranking official vehicle.

However, when the siren persisted even after being granted passage, SDM Khaliq intervened and halted the Fortuner. This led to a heated confrontation where the young occupant identified himself as the son of BJP MLA Rajendra Patel from the Jahanabad constituency. He allegedly argued with the officer, invoking political influence and displaying unruly behavior.

Police Intervention and Vehicle Seizure

As the situation escalated on the road, police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene. Upon inspection, authorities uncovered multiple violations. The Fortuner, bearing an MLA sticker, was registered under a different individual named Surendra Kumar Singh. More critically, the driver failed to produce a valid driving license, insurance papers, or pollution certificate.

Taking serious note of both the traffic violations and the misconduct with a public official, Nainital Police seized the vehicle on the spot. This action underscores a firm stance against VIP privilege and legal breaches in the region.

The incident has drawn attention to ongoing concerns about entitlement and law enforcement in tourist-heavy areas, with authorities emphasizing adherence to traffic rules and respect for public officials.
