BJP Unit Files Police Complaint Over Missing Kerala Trekker in Kodagu

The Kodagu district BJP rural unit has formally lodged a complaint with the Napoklu police, urging a thorough investigation into the case of a missing Kerala trekker at Tadiandamol. This move comes amid growing concerns and suspicions surrounding the incident that has captured local attention.

Complaint Filed Against Missing Trekker

Led by P Danoj, the general secretary of the district BJP Rural Mandal, a group of BJP workers visited the Napoklu police station on Tuesday to submit the complaint. The complaint targets GS Sharanya, a 36-year-old woman from Kozhikode in Kerala, who was reported missing in the Tadiandamol area on April 2.

The BJP members have demanded that the Napoklu police conduct a deeper investigation into the case. They expressed doubts over Sharanya's behavior, particularly given the circumstances of her disappearance and subsequent discovery.

Suspicions Raised Over Trekker's Behavior

Speaking to reporters after filing the complaint, Danoj highlighted several points that have raised suspicions. He noted that Sharanya was found four days after going missing in the dense Tadiandamol forest, which he claims is highly unusual.

"It is not possible to stay in the dense forest for four days without food," Danoj asserted. He further alleged that the case has given rise to additional concerns, citing ongoing Naxal activities in various parts of the region as a potential factor.

Allegations of Publicity Stunt

Adding to the controversy, BJP functionary Ambi Cariappa has alleged that the case might be a publicity stunt. He expressed worries that such incidents could negatively impact the reputation of Kodagu tourism.

"This case would have brought a bad name to Kodagu tourism," Cariappa stated, emphasizing the need for clarity and transparency in the investigation to protect the district's image.

The BJP's complaint underscores a call for accountability and thoroughness in handling the missing trekker case, as authorities are now pressured to address these allegations and ensure a comprehensive probe.
