The ruling Congress government in Telangana has come under sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its upcoming Rising Telangana Global Summit. The state's BJP chief spokesperson, NV Subhash, has labelled the high-profile event a lavish public relations stunt designed to divert attention from what he calls the administration's fiscal failures.
BJP's Scathing Critique and Key Demands
Addressing the media at a press conference in Hyderabad, NV Subhash launched a direct attack on the state's financial management. He argued that instead of witnessing progress, Telangana is grappling with rising debts and inflation under the current Congress rule. To bring transparency to the forefront, Subhash formally demanded that the government release a detailed White Paper. This document, he insisted, must clearly outline the state's current financial status, the details of recent loans acquired, and a complete breakdown of the expenses for the Global Summit.
"Instead of rising, Telangana is suffering under Congress rule," Subhash stated, encapsulating the party's stance. He described the summit as nothing more than a smokescreen, accusing the government of failing to fulfil its core promises to the public while simultaneously spending taxpayer money on what he deems misleading events.
New Slogans Dismissed as Cosmetic Gimmicks
The BJP leader also took aim at the new economic frameworks introduced by the government for the summit. He dismissed the freshly coined terms—Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE), and Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE)—as superficial and cosmetic. According to Subhash, these are mere gimmicks crafted to distract citizens from the pressing issues of governance and economic stability.
Investor Confidence and Regime Stability Questioned
Subhash cast doubt on the summit's potential to attract genuine global investment. He emphasised that serious investors seek leadership, stability, and fiscal discipline—qualities he claims are lacking in the current regime. "This summit will not attract investment," he asserted. "It will only expose the instability and confusion of this government." The BJP's critique positions the event as a potential liability that could highlight the administration's weaknesses rather than showcase the state's strengths.
