Bihar Districts Intensify LPG Supply Surveillance Amid Hoarding Concerns
In response to mounting concerns over hoarding and black marketing, district administrations across Bihar have significantly escalated surveillance and enforcement measures to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders. Officials in Buxar, Bhojpur, Araria, and Madhubani conducted comprehensive inspections on Tuesday, reviewing stock positions and appealing to consumers to remain calm, emphasizing that adequate supplies are available and strict legal action will be taken against any violations.
Buxar District Leads with Extensive Inspection Drive
Acting on directives from District Magistrate Sahila, Buxar launched a district-wide inspection drive involving special teams. These teams, composed of magistrates, administrative officers, and police personnel, meticulously inspected 27 gas agencies. They assessed stock positions, distribution systems, and supply procedures, confirming that LPG supply remains normal with no reported shortages.
According to official data, between March 13 and 16, a total of 22,283 cylinders were distributed in Buxar, with approximately 3,200 cylinders in stock as of March 16. The administration has explicitly warned that consumers should not be forced to queue at agencies or warehouses for cylinder distribution. Any agency found violating this directive will face immediate legal repercussions.
Bhojpur Administration Assures Adequate Cylinder Stocks
The Bhojpur district administration issued a firm assurance on Tuesday regarding the sufficiency of domestic LPG cylinder supplies. A statement from the District Magistrate's office detailed that 30 Indane distributors collectively hold 5,626 cylinders, six Bharat Gas distributors have 1,280 cylinders, and nine Hindustan Petroleum distributors possess 4,411 cylinders ready for dispatch.
The administration has established a district-level control room, operational at 06182-248702, to address grievances related to LPG distribution. Officials have issued a stern warning that any information regarding black marketing of cylinders will result in stringent action under the Essential Commodities Act.
Araria and Madhubani Reinforce Supply and Complaint Mechanisms
In Araria, District Magistrate Vinod Duhan addressed a press conference, affirming that the district maintains adequate stocks of both domestic and commercial gas cylinders, with supplies exceeding current demand. To enhance responsiveness, a dedicated control room has been activated and is functioning round-the-clock to promptly resolve consumer complaints.
Furthermore, the DM convened a meeting with gas agency distributors and area managers of oil companies, directing them to ensure a hassle-free supply chain. Similarly, in Madhubani, District Magistrate Anand Sharma and Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar reassured residents that the district has ample LPG cylinder supplies and urged them not to panic.
Legal Actions and Enforcement Across Districts
Enforcement actions are already underway, with three FIRs registered against violators in the affected districts. Officials have emphasized that cases involving black marketing and hoarding will undergo speedy trials to deter future offenses. These coordinated efforts underscore a proactive approach to maintaining market stability and consumer trust.
