Nagaur MP Beniwal Calls Off Agitation After Written Assurances from Administration
Nagaur MP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party chief Hanuman Beniwal ended his protest on Wednesday morning. The district administration provided written guarantees addressing key demands. These included decisive action against the sand mafia and resolution of farmers' long-standing issues.
Marathon Talks Lead to Breakthrough
Intense negotiations stretched into the early hours of Wednesday. Beniwal held detailed discussions with Nagaur District Collector Arun Kumar Purohit and Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa. The talks continued until 6 am.
"The first round of talks did not succeed," Beniwal stated. "However, after receiving the written assurance, we called off the march."
The administration formally agreed in writing to several critical actions. A survey will be conducted in Riya, Nagaur to curb illegal sand mining. Officials promised to initiate action against the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and mining officials. They also committed to ensuring the disbursal of long-pending insurance claims to farmers.
Protest March and Key Demands
Beniwal launched the protest on Tuesday. He marched towards Jaipur with thousands of farmers. The convoy consisted of nearly 2,000 vehicles.
The agitation centered on six major demands. Protesters called for strict action against illegal mining. They demanded compensation for farmers and settlement of insurance dues. The resolution of land acquisition payments by the Railways was another key point.
The convoy halted late Tuesday night near the Badi Ghati toll plaza. This location is the last village of Nagaur district on the Ajmer border.
Late-Night Negotiations and Final Agreement
A late-night round of talks began around 11:30 pm. Ajmer Range Inspector General Rajendra Singh joined the district collector and SP at the protest site. Negotiations continued until approximately 1:30 am. A team member revealed consensus could not be reached on several issues during that session.
Persistent discussions finally yielded results on Wednesday morning. The protest was called off after the administration provided assurance on all demands.
"Teams will be deployed for the survey against the sand mafia," Beniwal confirmed. "All pending works will be completed within the next two to three days."
Terms of the Agreement
The written agreement includes immediate measures to rein in the sand mafia. It mandates disciplinary action against erring mining and revenue officials. The clearance of farmers' pending crop insurance claims is a central component. Compensation for land acquired by the Railways is also part of the deal.
This development brings temporary relief to the protesting farmers. The administration's written commitment marks a significant step toward addressing their grievances.
