A devastating road accident on the Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi resulted in the deaths of two young friends, including a serving Army jawan, on Friday. The incident occurred near Rikhaun Khad in the Damta area, where their vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and plunged into the Yamuna River.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to police reports, the victims were identified as Tushar Khatri, a 25-year-old Army jawan, and his 26-year-old friend Ajay. They were traveling from Dhuink village to Damta when the car suddenly went off the road, fell into a deep gorge, and subsequently into the river below. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation, but initial assessments suggest it may have been due to driver error or road conditions.
Rescue Operation and Aftermath
Immediately after the crash, local residents alerted authorities, prompting a swift multi-agency response. Purola Station House Officer Deepak Kathayat confirmed the fatalities, stating, "The two died on the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death."
