Andhra Pradesh Government Intensifies Firecracker Safety Measures
In a decisive move to enhance public safety, the Andhra Pradesh government has directed all district collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to conduct thorough and intensive searches at firecracker manufacturing units and storage godowns across the state. This initiative aims to identify and address violations of established safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Strict Actions and Asset Seizure Proposed
Home Minister V Anitha, addressing the state legislative assembly during Question Hour, assured members that all storage points failing to adhere to stipulated safety measures will be immediately closed down. Furthermore, stocks will be seized to prevent any potential hazards. In a significant development, the government has proposed to seize the assets of individuals accused in firecracker explosion incidents.
"The government is prepared to seize the assets of those responsible for firecracker explosion incidents and distribute them to the victims," stated Anitha, emphasizing a stringent approach in response to recent accidents. This measure is designed to provide compensation to affected parties and deter negligence in the industry.
Legislative Updates and Fire Safety Reforms
The home minister highlighted that a new bill on fire safety standards is being developed to modernize existing laws on fire prevention. This update is particularly crucial given the rise of modern multi-storey constructions and evolving building standards. "We are making necessary changes to the law to address fire hazard prevention. Violations of regulations will lead to seizure of the premises and strict action," Anitha warned, underscoring the government's commitment to public welfare.
Educational Outreach and Student Engagement
In a separate but related event, Home Minister Anitha interacted with hundreds of school students who visited the state legislative assembly as part of an educational initiative. She encouraged the young visitors to understand democratic institutions and grow into responsible citizens, engaging in lively discussions and listening to their perspectives.
Expressing happiness at their curiosity and sense of responsibility, Anitha urged the students to actively contribute to the nation's development in the future. A total of 573 students from 19 schools participated in the program, which aims to provide first-hand exposure to legislative functioning, democratic values, and the law-making process.
Officials noted that this initiative helps young people better comprehend how laws are debated and passed in a democratic system.
