Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar Reviews Guntur Railway Infrastructure Projects

Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, has announced that the government is implementing coordinated measures to expedite the construction of railway overbridges (ROBs) and other critical railway infrastructure projects in Guntur district. The minister conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing railway initiatives during a high-level meeting held at the district collectorate.

Key Deadlines and Project Directives

During the meeting, which included District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya, Municipal Commissioner Mayur Ashok, and Mayor Kovelamudi Ravindra, Minister Pemmasani issued specific instructions to ensure timely completion of various infrastructure works. He mandated that the foundation works for the Shankar Vilas ROB must be finalized by June. Additionally, the Nandivelugu ROB is to be completed and prepared for inauguration by the end of June.

For ROBs at Pedapalakaluru and Namburu, where tenders have already been finalized, officials were directed to initiate construction activities without delay. The minister emphasized that revised proposals for the Inner Ring Road ROB should receive approval by March 31, with the tender process to follow immediately thereafter.

Land Acquisition and Construction Acceleration

Officials from the railways and municipal corporation were instructed to collaboratively develop land acquisition proposals for the Shyamala Nagar ROB. Furthermore, authorities were urged to accelerate construction on already sanctioned ROBs at Nidamarru, Nehru Nagar, Yerrabalem, and Nidubrolu.

To address persistent water stagnation issues near three-bridges during heavy rainfall, Pemmasani directed officials to undertake the construction of a drainage channel from Nehru Nagar to Manipuram bridge. This project will involve clearing encroachments and require close coordination between municipal and railway authorities.

Rehabilitation and Station Development

The minister assured that residents currently occupying encroached areas will be rehabilitated and provided with housing in Tidco and other housing layouts to minimize inconvenience. He also called for expediting development works at railway stations in Guntur, Mangalagiri, and Tenali under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Coordination and Future Initiatives

In subsequent remarks to reporters, Pemmasani highlighted that coordination meetings have been conducted with officials from the railways, roads and buildings department, municipal authorities, and contractors to resolve minor issues that have been delaying project progress. He indicated that permissions for fabrication works related to the Shankar Vilas bridge are anticipated to be cleared by March 15.

The minister also revealed that proposals for introducing a Vande Bharat train service to Tenali are currently pending with the railway board, and active efforts are underway to pursue this initiative. He stressed that all relevant departments are working in unison to ensure the earliest possible completion of railway infrastructure projects in the Guntur region, underscoring the government's commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and development.
