Amit Shah to Headline BJP's 'Badlaav Rally' in Punjab's Moga on March 14

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address a significant political rally organized by the Punjab BJP in Moga on March 14. The event, dubbed the 'Badlaav Rally', is strategically timed just before the AAP government completes four years in power on March 16, according to party officials.

Rally Tagline and Political Messaging

Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma, who hailed Shah as "the country's and BJP's biggest leader", revealed that the rally will carry the tagline: "Aao miljul ke badliye Punjab; sukhi rahe saada Punjab" (Let's usher in a change in Punjab, may Punjab remain prosperous). Sharma emphasized that this slogan reflects the party's call for collective action to transform the state's governance landscape.

Criticism of AAP Government's Performance

In a sharp critique, Sharma accused the AAP administration of failing to deliver on its electoral promises over the past four years. "In these four years, far from fulfilling electoral guarantees and promises, the AAP government has even failed to ensure the rule of law. The government took U-turns on every promise made before coming to power," he stated. He further claimed that every section of Punjab society is distressed and has resolved to oust the AAP in upcoming elections.

Allegations of Governance Failures

Sharma outlined several areas where he believes the AAP government has faltered:

  • Law and Order: Described as being in a shambles, with rampant corruption linked to drug and mining mafias.
  • Public Services: Health and education systems are deteriorating, and government employees face delays in salaries and pensions.
  • Police Misuse: Accused AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of misusing Punjab Police for political vendettas, undermining its legacy in combating terrorism.

Security Concerns and Political Context

Sharma highlighted security issues, referencing incidents from the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala to killings of kabaddi players and sarpanches. "Punjab Police appeared helpless to counter gangster, terror elements, and extortionists," he added, suggesting a breakdown in law enforcement. The BJP positions itself as a reliable alternative, with Sharma asserting, "People now consider the BJP a credible alternative for change." This rally is seen as a key moment in the BJP's campaign to challenge the AAP's governance ahead of potential state elections.
