Amit Shah Leads BJP Assam Election Strategy Session

Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level strategic meeting with the top functionaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam on Friday evening. The discussions, held at the state party headquarters in Guwahati, focused on formulating a comprehensive roadmap for the upcoming Assam assembly elections.

Key Discussions on Election Strategy and NDA Alliance

The meeting brought together members of the BJP's state election management committee and the core committee. According to party officials, the primary agenda was to chart out a detailed plan for the electoral battle ahead. Dilip Saikia, the BJP's state president, emphasized the importance of the gathering, stating, "We are hopeful after the key meeting. He (Shah) has tabled the roadmap on how to go ahead for the upcoming elections."

Focus on NDA Coalition and Seat-Sharing

One of the central topics of discussion was the strategy to contest the elections under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) banner. Saikia confirmed that fighting the elections as NDA was a key subject during the deliberations. He expressed optimism about the alliance's prospects, noting, "We will contest the election as NDA and are optimistic to secure seats more than the 2021 assembly elections and form govt again."

However, Saikia clarified that no specific discussions on seat-sharing with allies took place during this meeting. He assured that the matter of seat-sharing will be finalized soon, indicating ongoing coordination within the coalition.

Closed-Door Meeting for a Third Consecutive Term

The meeting was described as a closed-door session involving senior leaders, reflecting the BJP's serious intent to secure a third straight term in Assam. A party spokesperson highlighted the selective participation, saying, "Select members of the election management committee and the state core committee participated in the meeting. The discussion revolved around the assembly elections."

This strategic huddle underscores the BJP's focused approach to retaining power in Assam, with Amit Shah's direct involvement signaling the national leadership's commitment to the state's political landscape.
