10 Lakh Devotees Use UPSRTC Buses for Magh Mela

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) played a pivotal role in transporting devotees and tourists to the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, with over 10 lakh passengers utilizing its bus services until February 1. This massive logistical effort highlights the corporation's commitment to facilitating seamless travel for pilgrims during this significant religious event.

Daily Bus Operations and Passenger Volume

From January 3 to February 1, UPSRTC operated an average of 1,178 buses daily, ensuring that the influx of visitors was managed efficiently. The services included both AC and non-AC buses, which were deployed as needed to accommodate the varying demands of the pilgrims. Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh emphasized that these additional resources were crucial in maintaining smooth operations throughout the mela period.

Special Arrangements for Key Bathing Days

The transportation strategy was particularly intensified during the main bathing days, when pilgrim numbers peaked. For instance, on Paush Purnima (January 3), a total of 1,800 buses were allocated. Out of these, 783 buses carried approximately 16,341 passengers, while 200 buses were kept in reserve to handle any unforeseen surges in demand.

Similarly, on Makar Sankranti (January 15), out of the 1,800 buses allocated, around 1,540 buses transported approximately 30,627 passengers, with 300 buses maintained in reserve. These figures underscore the meticulous planning and flexibility of UPSRTC in catering to large crowds during critical religious observances.

Enhanced Connectivity and Route Expansion

To ensure that every devotee could reach the Magh Mela without difficulties, UPSRTC also operated buses on additional routes. This expansion of services helped in reducing congestion and provided alternative travel options, thereby enhancing overall accessibility to the event site in Prayagraj.

The successful management of over 10 lakh passengers reflects UPSRTC's robust infrastructure and operational efficiency. As the Magh Mela continues to attract millions, such initiatives are vital in supporting the spiritual journeys of devotees while promoting tourism in the region.
