New Delhi: In a shocking incident on Thursday morning, two men allegedly robbed a woman of gold and silver jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 8 lakh after forcibly entering her residence in east Delhi's Trilokpuri area, police reported.
According to officials, the crime took place around 11 am when the main gate of the house was left open and the woman was alone inside. The two accused entered the premises, overpowered her, and tied her to a bed before committing the theft.
Police stated that the men snatched the keys of an almirah from the woman's purse, opened the locker, and fled with the jewellery and cash. Shortly after the incident, family members and neighbours arrived at the house, untied the woman, and alerted the authorities.
A PCR call regarding the robbery was received at the Mayur Vihar police station at 11.17 am. The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken for a medical examination, police added.
An FIR has been registered at the Mayur Vihar police station, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
