Ranchi Launches Traffic Marking Drive at 88 Spots to Ease Congestion
Ranchi's 88-point traffic marking drive for safer roads

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has rolled out a significant initiative to bring order to the city's chaotic streets. Officials have confirmed that a comprehensive road and parking marking project is now active across multiple locations in the capital of Jharkhand.

Marking the Way for Smoother Traffic

This drive focuses on painting essential road markings to guide both vehicles and pedestrians. The work includes creating clearly visible zebra crossings, stop lines, and directional arrow marks on the road surface. Furthermore, the civic body is designating specific pick-up and drop-off zones alongside official parking spaces to curb haphazard vehicle stopping.

Targeting 88 Key Locations

The RMC has identified a total of 88 specific points across the city where this marking work is currently in progress. The primary goal is to tackle persistent issues that plague Ranchi's busier areas: frequent traffic jams, unsafe conditions for people walking, and irregular parking practices that block roads and pathways.

A Boost for Vulnerable Pedestrians

A major highlight of this initiative is the emphasis on citizen safety. Officials stated that the newly painted zebra crossings are expected to significantly improve safety for pedestrians. This is particularly crucial for protecting more vulnerable groups such as school children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities when they need to cross roads. Simultaneously, the introduction of stop lines and arrow markings will provide motorists with unambiguous instructions, reducing confusion and potential conflicts at intersections.

The city administration hopes that this foundational step of clearly marking roads will instill greater discipline among drivers, create a safer environment for walkers, and ultimately lead to a more streamlined flow of traffic in Ranchi's most crowded zones.
