The Screening Committee constituted by the UT Administration to hear public suggestions and objections on the draft amendments to the Chandigarh Master Plan-2031 concluded its four-day exercise on Sunday. The final public hearing was held at the UT Guest House from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, providing a last opportunity for those who had missed earlier sessions to present their inputs.

The public hearing began on June 25 at the UT Guest House. Businessmen, industrialists, and residents attended the sessions to voice their suggestions and objections. The nine-member committee was chaired by Engineering Secretary Prerna Puri. Other members included CHB Chief Executive Officer D Karthikeyan, Chief Architect Rajeev Mehta, Chief Engineer CB Ojha, and former Chief Architect Kapil Setia.
Next Steps and Timeline
The screening committee is expected to submit its report to the Administration within four weeks. The draft amendments to the Master Plan-2031 were opened for public consultation, with the CMP-2015 having allowed a 60-day consultation period along with ward-level hearings. The committee will review all submissions before finalizing its recommendations.
