Police Seize 7 Sand-Laden Vehicles, Arrest 5 in Gajapati

In a targeted operation against illegal sand transportation, the police in Paralakhemundi, Gajapati district, seized seven sand-laden vehicles and arrested five individuals on Thursday. The accused were allegedly transporting sand illegally from the Vansadhara river bed near Kashinagar.

Special Drive Against Illegal Sand Mining

As part of a special drive to curb the illegal extraction and transportation of sand, police conducted raids in Paralakhemundi town. During the verification process, it was discovered that the vehicles were carrying sand without proper authorization. Additionally, the drivers failed to produce the required documents for the transportation of sand.

Legal Action Taken

A police officer stated, We have registered seven cases against 13 individuals, including the vehicle operators and their owners. Of these, five persons were arrested, and their vehicles have been seized as evidence. The authorities are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
