Over 1.8 Lakh Opium Plants Destroyed in Mandi Raid

The anti-drug special task force (STF) of Kullu conducted a successful operation against illegal opium cultivation in Mandi district on Saturday. The team destroyed more than 1.8 lakh opium plants during the raid.

Operation Details

Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF team raided Sehad village under Katola sub-tehsil. During the raid, officials discovered illegal opium cultivation spread across nearly six bighas of private land, covering approximately 25 terraced fields. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Padhar police station against those involved in the illegal activity.

Legal Action

Authorities stated that the accused will be arrested following proper identification. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities, strengthen law enforcement, and prevent future instances of illegal cultivation.
