NCBC Chairperson Conducts Review Meeting on Backward Classes Welfare in Prayagraj
In a significant move to address the concerns of backward communities, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), convened a review meeting at the Circuit House in Prayagraj on Friday. During the meeting, Jyoti took serious note of a complaint alleging medical negligence in the treatment of Kesan, a patient injured in an accident in Kaushambi and currently admitted to Swaroup Rani Hospital. The complaint also highlighted the failure to provide ambulance services to patients who had recovered. In response, she directed Dr. V. K. Pandey, the principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, to conduct a thorough inquiry into these allegations and submit a detailed report promptly.
Jyoti underscored the imperative of ensuring proper medical treatment for all patients at the hospital. She mandated that no medicines should be prescribed from external sources and stressed that patients must be treated with utmost courtesy and respect. To bolster healthcare infrastructure, she requested a comprehensive, category-wise list detailing the number of doctors, paramedical staff, and sanitation workers currently posted at Swaroop Rani Hospital.
Strict Adherence to Reservation Norms and Timely Grievance Redressal
The Chairperson issued a series of directives aimed at improving administrative efficiency. She emphasized that any matter referred by the NCBC to concerned officials must be resolved within the stipulated timeframe. Furthermore, she instructed that all complaints or applications received from members of the backward classes should be addressed and resolved promptly by the relevant authorities.
Jyoti asserted that 100% compliance with reservation norms regarding appointments must be strictly ensured, reinforcing the commitment to equitable opportunities in public sector jobs. Additionally, she directed officials from concerned departments to facilitate the issuance of caste certificates without any difficulties for applicants, mandating that such certificates be issued within the prescribed time limit.
