The Nagaland drug disposal committee for state-level police stations carried out the destruction of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances valued at over Rs 36.57 crore at the Kohima dumping site in Meriema on Saturday.
Details of the Destroyed Contrabands
SP (N&P) and member of the drug disposal committee Poolicharla Ramanaiah confirmed that a total of 24 cases of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were destroyed. The contrabands included 8 kilograms of heroin, 31 kilograms of opium, 370 kilograms of ganja, and other substances covered under the LDPA (Liquor and Drug Prohibition Act), such as Ramadol and nitrogen-based materials.
Legal Compliance and Procedure
The destruction was carried out by the committee after ensuring full compliance with the court order. Ramanaiah stated that the committee was satisfied with the legal authorization before proceeding with the disposal. This operation underscores the state's commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring that seized illegal substances are securely eliminated.
