A man was robbed in Mangaluru after miscreants threw chilli powder on him and fled with cash. The complainant, Mohammad Mansoor, has been working as a cooking supervisor at a hall in Ganjimutt for the past seven years.

Incident Details

On Sunday, around 8:45 pm, after finishing work, Mansoor was riding his scooter towards Moodushedde via Edapadavu. At approximately 9:10 pm, when he reached Banglegudde, two youths standing by the roadside stopped his scooter and claimed that their vehicle had broken down.

When Mansoor approached their scooter and began checking the petrol pipe, the youths suddenly threw chilli powder on his body and into his eyes. The chilli powder caused a burning sensation, forcing Mansoor to rub his eyes. During this time, he overheard the youths speaking in Tulu, saying, “There should be cash in the underseat storage.”

Aftermath

Moments later, Mansoor stopped a passing vehicle, requested water, and washed his face. After informing the driver about the incident, he checked his scooter’s storage compartment and found that Rs 46,000 in cash was missing. The unidentified youths had fled the scene.

Police Complaint

A complaint has been registered at the Bajpe police station. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
