Ranchi: Jharkhand's 1.63 crore existing voters in the 2026 electoral roll will not have to submit documents during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) after the first round of self and parental mapping concluded on Monday, chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar said on Tuesday. The state has approximately 2.64 crore voters in total.
Mapping Process Reduces Document Burden
Kumar stated that the mapping of existing voters with Jharkhand's 2003 SIR electoral roll, or previous SIR rolls of other states and Union Territories, was undertaken to minimize the number of voters required to submit documents during the notice and verification period from August 5 to October 3, 2026. These voters will only need to submit duly filled and signed pre-filled enumeration forms along with recent color photographs.
House-to-House Enumeration Schedule
House-to-house enumeration by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will commence on June 30 and continue until July 29, 2026. The second and final mapping session for remaining unmapped voters will take place during this period.
Kumar emphasized that migrant workers, students studying outside the state, and others temporarily away need not appear before BLOs. "Mapping can be done through family members, the BOOK-A-CALL facility on ECINET, or BLO phone numbers displayed on house stickers," he said.
Requirements for Unmapped Voters
Unmapped voters must provide previous SIR registration details of themselves or their parents. Lists will be published after August 5 at polling stations and on the CEO website. Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
