Gurgaon: Residents of Sector 102 caught a dumper, allegedly operated by an MCG contractor, on Friday while it was dumping solid waste mixed with soil on a one-acre private plot near the upcoming Shri Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital.
The residents alleged that illegal dumping at the site had been ongoing for a month, with dumpers disposing of waste at night. They had attempted to catch the dumpers and eventually deployed a night guard. “The guard intercepted the vehicle at 2:30 a.m., caught the driver, and alerted us,” said Suresh Kumar, a resident of Sector 102.
The dumper driver was immediately taken to the Rajendra Park Police Station for intervention. The residents suspect that the vehicles belong to contractors tasked with road-cleaning work along the Dwarka Expressway corridor. “They lift waste from roadsides and dump it here, and it is a serious concern,” said Sunil Sareen, another resident.
Although residents of Adani Oyster Greens and Shapoorji Pallonji Joyville in Sector 102 previously submitted grievances through the MCG-GMDA redressal system, official action remains pending. “A probe will be initiated and action will be taken against whoever is found responsible,” MCG Additional Commissioner Ravinder Yadav responded to the allegation.
Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan stated that no formal complaints were received, refuting residents’ claims. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of unauthorized dumping in the area, with residents calling for stricter enforcement.
