Jaipur: Tension gripped a village in Rajasthan’s Dausa district after a 23-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a fodder storage room Friday morning, triggering a four-hour protest by villagers and family members demanding a thorough probe.
The incident was reported from Pakhar Chaudaki village under Mandawar police station area in Mahwa.
According to police, Veer Bahadur Meena (23), had gone to sleep in the courtyard of his house Thursday night.
“Pappu Lal Meena, the deceased’s father, stated in the FIR that he woke up around 6.30am Friday and found his son missing. While searching the house, family members discovered Veer Bahadur’s body buried under fodder inside a room used for storing cattle feed. The family also reported injury marks on his neck, raising suspicion of murder,” a senior Mandawar police officer said.
Soon after the body was found, villagers staged a protest seeking immediate action and clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death. The protesters sat outside the police station with the body for nearly four hours.
Mandawar station house officer Praveen Meena said, “Villagers prevented the body from being shifted to the mortuary and instead brought it to the police station as part of their protest. A case has been registered. The exact cause of death will be known after the medical and post-mortem reports. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder.”
Senior administrative and police officials, including circle officer Anoop Singh and revenue authorities, held talks with the protesters.
The agitation ended after Mahwa MLA Rajendra Meena assured villagers that the case would be investigated thoroughly and that police would make a breakthrough within three days.
