Pune Police Arrest Four for Theft of PMAY Construction Material
Four Arrested for Rs 20 Lakh Theft at PMAY Site in Pune

The Chakan police have apprehended four individuals in connection with the theft of construction materials valued at Rs 20 lakh from a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) site in Rakshewadi, located in Khed taluka. The police successfully recovered the entire stolen property, along with two cars and two motorcycles, collectively worth Rs 31 lakh, from the accused.

Investigation and Arrests

The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam of the Chakan police station. According to an officer, construction work on 210 houses under the PMAY scheme is currently ongoing at Rakshewadi. On April 16, centring plates worth Rs 20 lakh were stolen from the site, and a case was registered on April 18.

During the investigation, the police discovered an unattended motorcycle at the crime scene. By tracing the vehicle's owner and reviewing CCTV footage, they identified and arrested the main accused, Raju Paswan, 40, from Susgaon.

Accomplices and Recovery

Paswan subsequently revealed the names of his three accomplices: Swapnil Kalpad, 25, Akram Khan, 28, and Swaraj Kalpad. The accused had sold the stolen plates to three different scrap dealers. The police recovered all the stolen materials, as well as two cars and two motorcycles used in the crime.
